All in all, I’d say this debate wasn't a great use of my time. Three hours of politicians arguing over silly things is not what I signed up to watch. This wasn’t a political debate, it was a contest between players of “who can avoid the question more frequently and upset other politicians the most while enticing Americans to vote for you based on false evidence.” The main thing that upsets me is that there isn’t much holding the politicians back from lying or cherry-picking evidence. In the case of Carly Fiorina, she repeatedly stated how the size of Hewlett-Packard doubled during her time there. Sounds impressive, right? Well what she didn’t mention was that the size increase was due to a merger with Compaq, and that it wasn’t because of Fiorina’s genius brain. This type of lying is very dangerous to our nation because only a small percentage of our population actually bother to fact-check the politicians. Therefore, most Americans end up believing in a false politicians and false hope, which ultimately results in voting for causes that aren’t true and plans that won’t happen. Moral of the story, don’t believe the first thing you hear, and be sure to fact-check.
