Travel Skit
Throughout first semester, our Spanish 2 class worked on basic vocabulary, with a focus on travel vocabulary. We learned how to communicate for basic 'tourist' situations- from boarding the airport to ordering food to finding a hotel. After our vocabulary study, we focused on researching different cultures to identify the true culture of a country versus the tourism culture.
All of our skills came into play with the compilation of our final skit (depicted on the left) where each topic was incorporated somehow into our final presentation. This skit was a challenge for me because it was extremely important to not only be able to write correctly in Spanish, but also be able to say it correctly (not to mention memorize it as well). I had not previously had a lot of experience speaking Spanish, so this project was very beneficial for me. Another key piece of this project was making sure what we were saying was conveyed through our actions so that someone with no knowledge of the language would still be able to understand it. I learned this is very important so, when traveling to a foreign country, you are able to communicate with motions when words aren't readily available.
