Semester Exam Project
The Semester Exam Project (SEP) was a culmination of what we learned throughout the semester. This project consisted of each person creating 10 problems of varying difficulty which encapsulated everything we had learned this year. Through this process, we were able to review all the concepts, and use our creativity to make unique problems to ensure we know these concepts more deeply than just a regular test. Additionally, everyone's problems were sorted and comprised the final semester exam.
The SEP is a pretty ingenious project if you think about it. What better way to get students to learn the semester's content than have them create content of their own? This way, we are forced to know the studied skills, yet we are still given the freedom to be creative in our creation of our problems. Personally, it was difficult for me to make sure all the topics were covered in my problems, but, looking back, that was just because I wasn't completely confident in these topics. This project allowed me to study for the exam and helped me get a better grasp on the concepts.
For previous tests, I had just practiced problems out of the book in what I thought I needed the most help in. Even though this has worked in the past, I now know that making and solving your own problems can be much more beneficial and this is what I plan to do to study for the semester exam.
This semester has overall been a pretty good balance for me. The workload was not too difficult as long as I didn't procrastinate, and the pace and which we learned content was right in line with my pace. I usually didn't find myself lost in class, and my grades support that. Don't get me wrong, it was still challenging. This wasn't an easy class, I still had to study a lot for tests, make sure I was absorbing the corrects skills, and try not to procrastinate, but through using these techniques I felt I was successful in this semester.
