I'm approved for surgeries!! This was a COMPLETE surprise to me, but apparently Dr. Butzen pulled some strings, talked to some people, and now I'm approved! The reason this worked out so quickly versus the time it was originally going to take was because in this circumstance I'm just considered an observer. The other way would have made an official connection between Animas High School, Animas Orthopedic Associates, and Animas Surgical Hospital, so that future LINK interns would be able to have similar privileges as well. (Sorry, to the future interns who have to deal with this process.) This way, all I am is a person who wants to observe Dr. Butzen's surgeries, which is great for me!
Tomorrow we have a clinic day, so Monday will be my first surgery day.
Fun Fact: There's a trapezius muscles (on top of the shoulder), but there's also a trapezium bone in the wrist. Try not to get them confused.
