(If you're wondering why the Duchess of Cambridge is my title, we had a patient by the name of Kate Middleton. Although she did look a little older and a little less royal than the one I'd heard of...)
We had a VERY full day today at the clinic and saw many patients.
Notably, one of the patients needs to have her fingernail removed and the surrounding tissue explored. Since this isn't considered a real surgery, the procedure will be done in the E.R., meaning I CAN WATCH! Sure, it's not a huge deal or anything, but it's as close to a real surgery as I'm going to get, and I am very excited. Stay tuned for more.
Today I saw...
-Fused pinky post-op
-Ankle hardware removal post-op
-2 carpal tunnel release follow-ups, along with new, undiagnosed nerve pain
-2 Moderately sprained ankles
-Radial head (It's in the arm, in case you're wondering) fracture and displacement surgery diagnosis and pre-op
-Ankle surgery pre-op
~This patient has 141 pairs of shoes, and now (after 4 months of conservative treatment) only fits into two.
-Elbow fracture post-op
-Severe arthritis in knee treated with a cortisone shot
~This patients knees were so full of fluid and swelling, it was difficult to locate the kneecap.
-Shoulder AC joint repair post-op
-Fingernail removal pre-op
-Mystery wrist pain consultation
-Ulnar nerve release follow-up
-Knee infection removal surgery follow-up
-Arthritic knee meniscus tear post-op and cortisone reaction skin test
-Shredded rotator cuff follow-up
I realize my blog posts are pretty long, so if you made it this far, I congratulate you.
